Porirua Youth Awards

The annual Porirua Youth Awards celebrated some of the regions incredibly passionate and talented young people last week. The awards acknowledge achievements of 12 – 19 year olds across a range of categories, including achievements in arts, culture, education, environment, community, and sports. Our panel of judges had a difficult job due to the high calibre of applicants. Out of all the nominations, judges are given the task of narrowing down who to receive the excellence awards and the highly commended awards.

Partners Porirua have coordinated the awards since they began in 2010, in partnership with Porirua Foundation and Hekia Parata, Ministry of Education. “It’s humbling to see such young members of our community excelling at such high levels and serving as role models to us all. Their achievements are a poignant reminder that we have some talented and determined leaders in our midst who need out ongoing support. They all deserve the recognition they have received at the awards, which they will no doubt wear with pride!” said Partners Porirua, Executive Director, Michelle Robinson.
