Amelia’s trailblazing journey in the world of dance

 Congratulations to Amelia Maguire, Porirua’s own talented recipient of the 2023 Porirua Youth Award in the Art and Culture category!  Amelia’s trailblazing journey in the world of dance led her to Hong Kong, to the Asian Grand Prix Ballet competition.  Amelia dazzled the judges securing a spot as one of the top 12 finalists. 

Amelia’s achievements so far include:

• Silver Medal: A testament to her exceptional talent.
• Scholarship Interview with the Director of the NZ School of Dance.
• Hong Kong Ballet Intensive Programme Scholarship.
• Short-Term Scholarship: Amelia’s earned her a spot in the NZ School of Dance Programme.

Amelia expressed her gratitude, saying, “Hong Kong was an amazing experience, and I couldn’t have done it without the support of Partners Porirua! Thank you so much.” 

We’re proud to be a part of Amelia’s journey and eagerly await her bright future.
