Youth Service

This service is for teen parents and 16 or 17-years-old who are in need of financial support from the government.

Towards independence

The Youth Service works with teen parents and 16 or 17-years-old who receive financial support from the government and assists them to get the education or work skills needed to achieve their goals. It’s about stepping in early to help these young people gain the skills to gain mahi and have an independent future.

Partners Porirua staff also facilitate ‘Building Awesome Whanau’ (parenting) and ‘Taking Care of Business’ (budgeting) courses. Working with other community organisations, helps rangatahi to develop money management skills and teen parents are encouraged and inspired to grow great tamariki. Rangatahi are also assisted with their driver licences and with learning about future careers.
